**‱**

The permyriad symbol.

**Permyriad** (literally, per 10,000) represents a portion of a whole in parts per 10,000, just as permille represents parts per 1,000 and percent parts per 100.

It is denoted by the symbol ‱ (like the percent sign, but with two additional zeros under the slash).

Thus:

- 10,000‱ ≡ 10,000 per 10,000 = 1 or 100% (or 1000‰)
- 1,000‱ ≡ 1,000 per 10,000 = 1/10 or 10% (or 100‰)
- 100‱ ≡ 100 per 10,000 = 1/100 or 1% (or 10‰)
- 10‱ ≡ 10 per 10,000 = 1/1,000 or 0.1% (or 1‰)
- 1‱ ≡ 1 per 10,000 = 1/10,000 or 0.01% (or 0.1‰)

Note that 1 permyriad is 1/100 of 1 percent.

Permyriad is also called a **basis point**.

Use of **Permyriad in Aquaculture**

Permyriad (parts per 10,000) The term used in aquaculture to define a Rate of Consumption or Relative Feed Rate for a Biomass Defined a Parts per 10,000 Parts feed to a biomass in a period of one minute

**Examples:**
1 Kilogram per 10,000 Kilograms of Biomass Per Minute
1 Pound Per 10,000 Pounds of Biomass Per Minute

Also know Relative Feed Rate or Rate of Comsumption - **ROC**

Cold water species are usually fed at an R.O.C of 1 to 4 while warm water species can be fed at R.O.C. rates as high a 6 to 8
