  • P = evaluate Parentheses
  • E = evaluate Exponents
  • M = Mutiply
  • D = Divide
  • A = Add
  • S = Subtract

When the evaluation are only Add & Subtract or Multiply & divide, the parts will be evaluated form left to right.

Examples of Correct P.E.M.D.A.S usage[]

Example 1: 2*5+4*3[]

  • by P.E.M.D.A.S , Multiply is first , so we evaluate 2*5 and 4*3 , which equals to 10 and 12
    • Evaluation: 10+12
  • Next is Addtion,Starting from left to right.
    • Final value:24
    • last Evaluation: ((2^2+2)*1/2)-3
    • First do the parentheses 2^2=4+2=6
    • next multiply then divide so 6*1=6/2=3
    • To end subtract so 3-3=0
    • Final value:24
  • let's do it again
  • ((2^2+2)*1/2)-3
  • ((4+2)*1/2)-3
  • (6*1/2)-3
  • (6/2)-3
  • 3-3
  • 0
